Job Description

Clinical Coding Specialist - Kings Cross (£250 - £300 per day)

I'm actively looking to recruit a Clinical Coding Specialist for my client in the King Cross area.

In order to be considered for this role, applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

Skills and Experience


  • Accredited clinical coder and having completed up to date clinical coding refresher courses
  • Specialist knowledge of clinical coding rules and conventions
  • 5 years post A.C.C. coding experience within the NHS
  • Ability to explain complex, interlinking technical issues, verbally and in writing, using clear language, to staff from different professional backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills (Telephone, Written, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of Excel
  • Should be able to work away from home when required


  • Approved Clinical Coding Auditor or Trainer
  • Attended Clinical Coding Specialty Workshops
  • Extensive knowledge of HRG's
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Tariff Payment System
  • Excellent understanding of the relationship between clinical coding, HRGs and the National Tariff Payment System.
  • Extensive liaison/engagement with other professional teams including Clinicians, Senior Management Staff, Finance and Information staff.
  • Design and delivery of coding improvement projects.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Good general IT skills with ability to learn new systems quickly

In addition to this, candidates should:

  • Be an effective communicator
  • Be able to work indpendantly within a virtual organisation without direct supervision
  • have advanced business acumen and ability to communicate within various business settings
  • Have ability to quickly understand prospects' pain points and provide rationalisation for solutions
  • Be a good team player.
