Job Description

Cobham Mission Systems are looking for a Field Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support to customers on our equipment and to act as local representative to the customer's organization. Collectively, the FSE team will provide 24/7 technical cover to customers (on a rota basis) and FSE's will be required to undertake both planned and unscheduled travel to locations world-wide. The FSE will assess technical issues, determine solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications and recommend actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. He or she will also conduct technical analyses of product implementations and modifications in accordance with customer specifications. The job holder will provide support to production testing and qualification programmes and will also conduct technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives.

The role is based in Wimborne, Dorset but around one third of time in the role will be based onsite at customers - largely internationally

As a Field Service Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • Technical service or similar engineering experience preferably developed in an aviation engineering and customer facing capacity.
  • Experience of working unsupervised and remote from the business.
  • Competent user of MS Office programmes and in-house computer applications.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Engineering qualification equivalent to UK HND or with equivalent technical experience.
As a Field Service Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
  • Acting as a key technical point of contact with customers.
  • Providing timely response, investigation and advice to technical enquiries.
  • Conducting repair, servicing, maintenance, investigations and support to customers' requirements at their main operating bases.
  • Providing SME support to fault investigation activities.
  • Acting as a key member of the Field Services team, providing 24/7 cover to Customer issues.
  • Identifying needs and compiling information for customer training courses and for delivering training when required.
  • Advising the customer of opportunities for CMS sponsored training courses.
  • Supporting production and product development through trials and when products go into service.
  • To co-operate with management to meet the employer's legal duties and take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
