Job Description

Job Purpose:

Support, develop and maintain existing web information systems that support business activities. Design and develop new web based systems using documented requirements.
This includes internal and external websites, business and client facing.

Required Technical Skills:

* ASP.NET (essential)
* C# (essential)
* Classic ASP
* HTML / CSS
* SQL Server
* TSQL
* XML / XSLT
* WCF Services / web services
* Visual Studio (2008/2010)

Desirable Technical Skills:

* Experience of the following programming languages:
* Visual Studio (2012)
* ASP.NET MVC (Model-View-Controller (MVC)
* MVC
* VB.NET
* JavaScript
* VBScript
* PHP
* Silverlight
* WPF
* SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
* HTML 5
* JQuery
* Biztalk
* Crystal Reports
* Reporting Services

Key Responsibilities:

* Interpret stakeholder requirements and provide technical advice & guidance to IT or business users.
* Provide reliable and consistent estimates for development work to ensure that projects/requests can be managed to business timescales.
* Document general and/or technical specifications for system development requests ensuring they adhere to minimum technical standards as defined by the IT Management Team.
* Design / code / implement web based solutions in relevant technologies

Typical Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

* Degree level education / or equivalent commercial experience.
* Proven commercial development experience in the web developer role
* Be adaptable and able to pick up new techniques
* keep up to date with advances in computer technology and how this affects the business environment
* Experience of object oriented design.
* Experience of full system development lifecycle
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Self-motivated and directed.
