Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced VAT Manager to join a growing team in Aberdeen.
Purpose:
Working as an integral member of the Scottish VAT team, this role will report to partner level and provide high quality advice and solutions to a diverse client base.
.
Duties & Responsibilities
&bull Assisting and providing guidance to internal teams with the preparation of client VAT returns, ensuring information is correct and submitted to H M Revenue & Customs on or before due dates.
&bull Assisting with clients and third party relationships, responding quickly to client&rsquos needs.
&bull Liaising with clients on VAT compliance issues and ensuring that deadlines are met
&bull Dealing with H M Revenue & Customs enquiries by letter
&bull Providing ad-hoc support to the wider VAT team
&bull Assisting with WIP management and billing
&bull Increasing the VAT offering to existing service line e.g. International, Insolvency
&bull Periodic reviews of VAT returns prepared by internal service teams
&bull Communicating effectively and in a timely manner and cost effective way, obtaining appropriate targets (self-planning and organising)
&bull Managing service risk by ensuring that work is carried out to the highest professional  standards
&bull Managing technical knowledge by staying up to date/study appropriate exams
Desired Experience:
The successful candidate will ideally be CTA Qualified with experience working as a VAT Manager within professional services.
&bull Experience dealing with HMRC enquiries, correspondences, assessments and penalties
&bull Excellent inter-personal skills with clients and team members
&bull Partial exemption / Capital Goods Scheme
&bull Business/Non Business apportionments calculations
&bull Experience with clients from Not-For-Profit sector (Charities, public bodies,
&bull Housing Associations), OMBs and corporates
&bull Managing and appraising staff, working with a VAT partner
&bull Ability to generate work from a client allocation
&bull Allied to a flexible approach to working in offices and client locations throughout Scotland
&bull International VAT experience
