Your role as a Field Engineer will be to support a Delivery Engineer in ensuring the effective day-to-day utilisation of resources and prioritisation of work within the tasks and projects allocated.

Working as an integral member of a mobile workforce, you will work within all functions of Maintenance Delivery Electricity - Substations. You will be required to adopt a flexible approach to work and its completion so as to minimise cost.

The Field Engineer will lead various teams to deliver work as directed by the Delivery Engineer. Typically you will manage multiple tasks concurrently at various locations, with large numbers of staff of mixed ability, including contractors.

You will be undertaking a range of duties on plant and equipment which will include setting staff to work and delivery of maintenance, projects, commissioning, complex fault investigation and repair, safety implementation and monitoring, supervising internal and monitoring external staff to ensure optimum efficiency, cost effectiveness and safety.

Experience in Substations work and/or on HV cable systems is beneficial. You will have an in depth technical knowledge relating to the electrical and safety aspects of Substation Plant, together with fault-finding expertise and Plant analysis. Environmental knowledge and experience is also required in respect of day-to-day duties, together with proven ability to respond to emergency situations.

Due to the nature of the role you will need to be competent in planning, people-management, communication and supervision in order to lead large groups of multi-disciplined staff and to achieve efficient completion of tasks. You will also have demonstrable skills in financial management and control of budgets.

You will have a minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering subject, and qualifications leading to membership of IET or similar professional body. Previous experience of authorisation as a Senior Authorised Person under any companies Safety Rules is advantageous, as is NEBOSH.

A full UK driving license is required.
