JOB TITLE: Finance and HR Officer

SALARY & BENEFITS: Grade 8, £22,937-£25,440

WORKING HOURS: Full Time 37 Hours Per Week. 08.30-16.30 Monday to Thursday, 08.30-16.00 Friday

THE COMPANY: Our client are a popular and successful school based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. Founded in 1928 as a mixed grammar school it now has academy status and has over 1000 students. They are currently recruiting for a Finance and HR Officer to work in conjunction with the Business Manager.

THE ROLE: As a Finance and HR Officer based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire you will be a member of the support staff within the school, working under the supervision of the Business Manager. In this role you will be responsible for the finance and HR administration within the school, as well as supervising the day to day activities of the Finance Office and Finance Administrator.

Key Responsibilities to include:-

  • Administer finance records for bank accounts
  • Responsible for on-line banking
  • Monthly monitor payroll reports
  • Monthly administration/input of claim forms, expense claims, overtime etc
  • Administer and maintain CNS Charge Cards
  • Administer ParentPay system and reconcile payments made by parents
  • Assist the Business Manager with preparation of reports to cost centre managers on a monthly basis.
  • Be the school point of contact for payroll queries
  • Produce annual salary statements for teaching and support staff in conjunction with the Headteacher's PA
  • Assist with phone calls, correspondence and filing of Finance Office records
  • Perform other duties required for the role

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the role of Finance and HR Officer based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire will have a good level of general education, with some experience of working with financial accounting software being essential. Experience of working with children and/ or working within an educational setting is also essential. Evidence of commitment to personal and professional development is key for the role, and the ideal candidate will preferably hold a relevant recognised professional qualification in finance, accounting or business administration, however this is not essential. Good ICT and numeracy skills are essential, as well as having the ability to work confidently with students, staff and parents. For the role of Finance and HR Officer you must have a flexible and positive approach, whilst possessing a high level of interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential for the role.

Key experience essential for the role:

  • Some experience of working with financial accounting software is essential
  • Experience of working with children and/ or working within an educational setting is essential
  • A good level of general education, including Maths and English is essential
  • Knowledge of SIMS is not essential, however would be desirable
  • A relevant recognised professional qualification in finance, accounting or business administration is not essential, however would be desirable
  • The ability to work under pressure is essential
  • The ability to manage your own workload is essential
